Pre-Capstone year study abroad

In order to be best prepared for the Capstone year abroad, IU Russian Flagship students must participate in a study abroad program at least a year before they embark on the Capstone year. In order to receive Flagship financial support, students must attend the American Councils Russian Language and Area Studies Program in Almaty, Kazakhstan. However, students may fulfill the requirement through other IU summer abroad programs in Russian-speaking countries.

Capstone year study abroad

Once students reach level 2+ proficiency at IU they are ready to take their language skills overseas to spend an academic year at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty Kazakhstan. The Capstone Year in Kazakhstan is operated by American Councils for International Education.
