The IU Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures congratulates Sydney Zulich, who has been elected to Bloomington City Council, the youngest person ever to serve on it. Having graduated from IU in May 2023, Zulich will be representing District 6, which includes parts of Bloomington's downtown and areas around campus.
“The primary reason that I chose to run was because I think that there is a disconnect between representation in local government and the actual makeup of the city,” Zulich said. “I’m excited to give students and other underserved communities in Bloomington a better voice.”
