Course Description

In this course students will be introduced to the synchronic structure of Old Church Slavic (OCS) and will read the texts, written in that language. In addition, frequent references will be made to historical and comparative material that will account the origin of the modern forms in various Slavic languages. At the end of the course students will be able to perform a linguistic analysis of OCS, to trace the origin of modern forms to Proto-Slavic through identifying the relevant sound changes, and to read OCS texts.
