Teuta Özçelik is a lecturer for the Bosnian, Croatian, and Serbian (BCS) languages in the Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures at Indiana University Bloomington. She holds a graduate degree in Croatian language and literature from the University of Zagreb in Croatia (2009) and in Balkan studies from the Russian and East European Institute at Indiana University (2018). She has been teaching Bosnian, Croatian, and Serbian as a second and a foreign language for more than a decade at Indiana University. She has taken an active and a leading role in BCS language pedagogy, participating in conferences and workshops, as well as organizing many events for the BCS community.
Teuta's academic focus is on the differences between these three languages, as well as teaching them effectively in the modern language classroom. Her broader focus is on the fall of Yugoslavia and the cultural and linguistic differences that have developed after the fall.
