U.S. - RUSSIA GLOBAL - HEALTH CARE COURSE STUDY PROGRAM

Ron Feldstein
Ronald F. Feldstein Principle Investigator (PI) of the U.S.-Russia Global-Health-Care Program and Chair and Professor at the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures Ronald Feldstein oversees the "U.S.-Russia Global-Health-Care Program" FIPSE grant project. Professor Feldstein also teaches the Specialized Russian: Public Health Care Russian-language course offered under the "U.S.-Russia Global-Health-Care Program".
Steve Franks
Steven L. Franks Professor at the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures, the Department of Linguistics, Adjunct Professor at the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences Steven Franks in collaboration with the IUB Department of Second Language Studies organizes ESL classes for the Southern Federal University (SFU) student group visiting IU at the end of June 2008. Professor Franks also organizes the 1st week of the SFU student group visit to IUB.
George H. Fowler
George H. Fowler Associate Professor at the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures George Fowler teaches the Survival Russian Russian-language course offered under the "U.S.-Russia Global-Health-Care Program". Professor Fowler plans on visiting SFU in the fall 2008 to give lectures and set up collaboration with the SFU faculty at the Department of Philology.
Natalia Rekhter
Natalia Rekhter Assistant Professor and Director
Health Services Administration Program
Natalia Rekhter organizes the Global-Health-Care part of the "U.S.-Russia Global-Health-Care Program", teaches Global Public Health Dialogue and International Health Care Delivery: in-country Russian Field Experience courses offered under the "U.S.-Russia Global-Health-Care Program", develops materials and curriculum for both of these courses. Natalia also organizes the IU student visit to Rostov-on-Don, and in 2008 she led the IU student group on their tour of Rostov-on-Don. In addition, Ms. Rekhter organizes the 2nd week of the SFU student group visit to IUPUI.
Olena Chernishenko
Olena Chernishenko Lecturer at the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures Olena Chernishenko organizes the Russian-language-study part of the "U.S.-Russia Global-Health-Care Program", develops materials and curriculum for both Specialized Russian: Public Health Care and Survival Russian courses, and does language assessment testing of students. Ms. Chernishenko also works with the IUB Computational Linguistics colleagues on the ICALL implementation in the Russian-language courses taught under the "U.S.-Russia Global-Health-Care Program", participates in the organization of the IU student visit to Rostov, organizes SFU faculty visit to IUB, and organizes the "U.S.-Russia Global-Health-Care Program" web site and on-line student application.
Markus Dickinson
Markus Dickinson Assistant Professor at the Department of Linguistics, Computational Linguistics Program Markus Dickinson works on the development and evaluation of the nation's first intelligent computer-assisted language learning (ICALL) for Russian language teaching.
Brigid K. Henry
Brigid K. Henry Graduate student at the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures, Slavic Linguistics Program Brigid Henry provides instructional support for the Specialized Russian: Public Health Care course development, logistical support for U.S.-Russia faculty and student travel-related matters, as well as administrative grant-related duties.
Joshua W. Herring Graduate student at the Department of Linguistics
Joshua Herring assists Professor Dickinson in the design of an architecture for the ICALL system; develops a web interface for the ICALL system, in conjunction with a web programmer; develops techniques for processing ill-formed input; and programs the required exercises.
Denise A. Gardiner Fiscal Officer/Title VI Coordinator for International Programs in the College of Arts and Sciences Office of the Dean
Denise Gardiner provides administrative and fiscal officer support for the "U.S.-Russia Global-Health-Care Program" grant project.
Chris Riley Undergraduate student majoring in Linguistics
Chris Riley assists Professor Dickinson and Joshua Herring in the developing of online tools for intelligent computer-aided language learning (ICALL) for learners of Russian, including maintenence of the system interface and basic functionality. Chris also maintains and develops the "U.S.-Russia Global-Health-Care Program" FIPSE grant project web site, in conjunction with Olena Chernishenko.
