The department is honored to congratulate the following three recipients of major annual awards to faculty and graduate students:
Jerzy Kolodziej award (for excellence in teaching by a graduate student): Jordan Hussey-Anderson.
Neatrour-Edgerton award (provides a one-semester fellowship for uninterrupted research by an advanced graduate student): Ani Abrahamyan
Mentor of the Year award (to a faculty member, selected by the graduate students): Russell Valentino.
We are also proud to congratulate the following faculty for their achievements this past year:
Malgosia Cavar was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure.
Associate Professor Joanna Niżyńska was granted a Fulbright Scholar Award for 2022-23. In July, she also participated in a conversation about Miron Białoszewski, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the poet's birth. The event was hosted by David Goldfarb at the Polish Cultural Institute in New York and a recording is available here.
Assistant Professor Elizabeth Geballe secured a College Arts & Humanities (CAHI) grant for 2022-23.
Nicoletta Rousseva will be joining the department as a Visiting Assistant Professor for 2022-23.
Professor Emerita Bronislava Volková was featured WIFU's The Poets Weave with her poem "The Mystery of Twilight".
