Upon completion of his service as Associate Dean in the Executive Dean’s Office of the College of Arts and Sciences, Russell Valentino was honored with the Bicentennial Medal from President Michael McRobbie. President McRobbie’s letter reads in part, “In recognition of your administrative leadership and service to Indiana University, I am very pleased to bestow the Bicentennial Medal upon you. The medal itself is unique, made from materials salvaged from bells which hung in the Student Building on the IU Bloomington campus for almost 100 years. Please accept this lasting piece of IU history with our utmost gratitude for your longstanding friendship and support of the university.”
Valentino served as the inaugural Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion, from 2018 to 2020, and as the inaugural Associate Dean for International Affairs from 2016 to 2020. In both roles, he represented the College and the university nationally and internationally, forging ties with global partner institutions in Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania.
